Actually I came to Nara the 1st time when I was 15yrs old. Yes, that was long long long time ago. The deers bowed to get the Senbei 鹿仙貝(deer crackers) at that tiime. They don’t bow much nowadays, if they smell you have the crackers, they will bite you or hit you till they get the crackers. Kind of scary, but kind of funny too : ) If you don’t buy the Senbei, they are more well behaved, and just leave you alone. Yes, so I was attacked by the deers from the entrance right after bought the Senbei. I ended up have to throw the crackers like a frisbie to get them out of me.
